Do I need to be fit and have a ballet background to take class?
First and foremost, this workout is for all shapes and sizes and all fitness levels and backgrounds. Our teachers will be there to walk you through the various routines and will always provide modifications along the way. We encourage you to give the class at least three attempts before deciding it’s not right for you.
We also offer private and small group options for those who would like some additional training. Please email us at barrevastudio@gmail.com if you are interested!
What do I wear?
Dress comfortably! Most clients prefer yoga pants with a tank top or tee shirt. Socks (with grips on the bottom) are optional!
What does the workout entail?
Each class is one hour, and is a full-body workout involving low-impact exercises. The sequence includes a warm-up with varieties of planks, push-ups and free-weights that works the upper body, and then moves onto isometric leg and seat work, either at the barre or on the floor. The last portion focuses on abdominals. There are periods of stretching throughout the duration of the class to ensure the lenthening of the muscles being targeted.
When will I see the results and how often should I come to class?
Everyone is different, but we can say that most students begin to see results after attending 8-10 classes. We recommend coming to class 3-4 times per week to see the most significant results. Mental benefits will come after the first few classes.
How many calories can I burn in a barre class?
The amount of calories burned will depend on a number of individual factors (height, weight, age, metabolism), but typically range from 300 – 600 calories in a one hour class. Additionally, the calorie burn lasts hours after the class is over, due to the intense muscle work.
What is your cancellation policy?
Clients may cancel up to 2 hours prior to the start of class without being charged a fee. Any cancellation within 2 hours prior to the start of class will be deemed a “late cancel” and result in the forfeiture of the class. No-shows for clients with a class package will result in the forfeiture of the class, plus an additional $5. For unlimited class package holders: cancellation within 1 hour prior to start time will result in a $10 fee and no-shows will result in a $15 fee.
For 6 a.m. classes, we ask that you cancel by 10 p.m. the night before.
What happens if I’m late?
You will not be permitted to class after 10min from the start of class. This is for your own safety!
